Jamaat demands dismissal of Nilphamari District Police Superintendent Zahidul

Describing the arrest of Thakurgaon District Jamaat Ameer Belal Uddin Pradhan along with Tk 7.4 million as a planned drama, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded the dismissal of Nilphamari District Police Superintendent (SP) Sheikh Jahidul Islam in this incident.

Jamaat made this demand at a press conference organized at the party’s central office in Moghbazar on Wednesday (February 11) night.

The incident at Syedpur Airport and the media reports on it were shown through a power point presentation at the press conference. It was presented by Jamaat’s election management committee member Saif Uddin Khaled.

He said that Nilphamari SP Sheikh Jahidul Islam organized the media trial in the Syedpur Airport incident. He is one of the associates of former DB chief Monirul Islam, who is absconding in India. This SP was seen at the public meeting of BNP candidate Shahrin Islam Tuhin, Tarique Rahman’s cousin.

Saif Uddin Khaled said that four days ago, Nilphamari SP Zahidu Islam and several other police members had lunch with the BNP chairman in violation of the election code of conduct. Although the Home Affairs Advisor had earlier said that police officers would not be able to eat food provided by any candidate or agent.

Raising the question of who has access to the airport cameras and scan videos, Saif Uddin Khaled said that this report against the Jamaat candidate on the Facebook pages of some media outlets has been targeted boosted.

He said that preparations for the media trial were made within 45 minutes of issuing clearance from Dhaka Airport. Reports were made to mainstream media outlets simultaneously within 1 hour. At the same time, internal footage was leaked. Everything was planned.

He also said that the Thakurgaon incident was a drama. The main mastermind of this drama, Nilphamari SP Sheikh Zahidul Islam, must be dismissed quickly. Otherwise, he will play a role in ensuring that the verdict of the winners is not reflected in tomorrow’s elections.

At the press conference, Jamaat-e-Islami’s publicity and media department head Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair said that some people are trying to make Jamaat controversial based on the Thakurgaon incident. They are trying to confuse the people and question the elections. Earlier, an official of Bangabhaban was involved in the hacking of the Jamaat Ameer’s X account. These incidents involve deep plots and conspiracies.

Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair said that one terrorist act after another is being carried out to thwart the elections. Various threats are being made so that women cannot go to the centers. A party leader has said that women should go to the centers without removing their burqas. Attacks and assaults are being carried out. Jamaat believes that a party and a section of the administration that were with fascism are all working together to hatch these plots.

The Jamaat leader demanded that those involved in these incidents be brought to justice.
